About Symbiosis Centre for Behavioral Studies (SCBS)

SCBS has been established to intensify the thrust of behavioural research scholarship within Symbiosis International (Deemed University). Often associated with management studies and social sciences, behavioural science explores the activities and interactions among human beings. Studies in behavioural sciences includes investigation and analysis of an individual, or human relationships through behavioural aspects. The centre is multi-disciplinary and encourages behavioural research from the various faculty within the university. Infrastructure at SCBS is equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and contemporary software to facilitate modern scientific research. SCBS encourages research in functions such as Healthcare, Sales and Marketing, International Relations, Personnel Management, Communication, Media and Design amongst others. It also finds applications in Criminology, Sociology, Politics and Anthropology.

SCBS has a three-pronged aim of
  • Increasing quality research in behavioural sciences
  • Publishing in reputed journals
  • Consulting to organizations
The Centre plans to organize its two-day virtual conference on Behavioral studies on 28 and 29 Jan 2021.

Scope of the Conference

Corporations are increasingly recognizing the value of integrating behavioral science - the blend of insights from psychology, economics, human resources, and neurosciences in deriving inferences that help them achieve their organizational objectives. Behavioral studies are conducted by marketers to understand customers' interest in terms of engagement, attention, interest, and retention of specific prints, packaging, and video ad designs using neurosciences. When consumers purchase online, what people look at, is captured by e-commerce players based on which they flash important information at those specific spots. The applications are many and are extremely useful to understand the consumer's side of the story. The conference aims deliberations and publication of research in the area of behavioral studies with a focus on research that bring positive organizational change. We aim to encourage researchers to submit their experimental and theoretical results in as much detail as possible. The broad scope of the conference is to:

  • Describe organizational interventions and techniques intended to facilitate change in teams, organizations, and systems.
  • Develop applications of behavioral studies in its various forms that help to understand, and improvements to, a wide range of social processes, such as decision making, strategic planning, leadership, policymaking, behavioral change, employee engagement, post-merger integration, teamwork, culture change, and leveraging diversity.
